Receives general supervision from supervisor or other higher graded worker who issues written or verbal work assignments. The incumbent is expected to operate vehicles and equipment safely. The work is spot-checked during progress and upon completion for adequacy of progress and compliance with procedures. Skill in safely using hand tools, such as: shovel, pick, hand/power tamper and lawncare equipment such as stand- on mowers, trimmers, edges and chain saws. Follows Chain of Custody policy for all interments. Uses death care software to identify, confirm and layout gravesites for interments and monument installations. Prepares grave sites for interment services by placing planks, greens, chairs, tarpaulins, tents, and lowering devices; and removing equipment following the interment services. Assists backhoe operator in excavating and closing gravesites by hauling fill dirt by using dump vehicle and acts as safety spotter during the operation. Places grave markers to specified height and alignment in accordance with section layout plan. The work requires frequent walking, standing, pushing of carts, bending, and stooping, and squatting. Frequent arm and leg movements are required when operating lawncare equipment. The incumbent often lifts heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, and movement of headstones. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school graduation or GED preferred
Certificates and Licenses:

Possession of a Florida driver’s license and be insurable by the City’s current insurance carrier.
